"NATURE'S SANCTUARY" PHOTOGRAPH EXHIBIT OPENING RECEPTION LAST NIGHT - WINNERS, AWARDS, PHOTOS ETC.

1st Place: Irene Cholewka - "The Coyote"
What a fantastic evening to kick off FOSS's one month "Nature's Sanctuary" photo exhibit at the Assembly Hall!
There were about one hundred attendees who turned up to see the sixty-seven beautiful photographs, to applaud the three winners and the honourable mentions, to enjoy Anne Brokelman's presentation on animal behaviour and her own work and, of course, to talk with others about all things Sam Smith Park.
A number of photographs were sold, there was great food and music.
If you weren't there last night, Assembly Hall Gallery hours are Monday to Friday - noon to 5 p.m., Saturday - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Hall is located at 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive in South Etobicoke on the south-west corner of Col. S. Smith Prk. Dr. and Lakeshore Blvd. West.  The exhibit will close on November 8th.

1st Place: "The Coyote" - Irene Cholewka

"Excellent candid shot picking up the elements of camouflage in a crisp clean photo.
If the coyote was in the background he would practically disappear. Clarity colouring and composition. Natural camouflage. An animal that many don't see in nature. Such a beautiful shot with vivid colour and eyes."
(Juror Anne Brokelman's comments.)

2nd. Place: "The Droplet" - Monika Meulman

"Very nice crisp and clean composition and pay on shallow depth perception.

Striking, simply beautiful. The droplet is perfect. Fell in love at first sight."

(Juror Anne Brokelman's comments.)

3rd. Place: "The Catch" - Andrew Woronecki

"Nice play on water tension, reflective value and the nice surprise of the fish once you take a closer look.
Eye level dynamic shot. Reflections perfect. Fish coming home for dinner. The lighting in water perfect."

(Juror Anne Brokelman's comments.)

"Honourable Mentions" went to Carol-Lynn Bamber, Liana Franciosi, Nancy Barret and Peter Wade.
In the Youth Category, 1st. Place went to Hannah R., 2nd Place to Emily R. and 3rd. Place to Claire D.  "Honourable Mention" went to Giuliana S.
