“Nature's Sanctuary"
A Photography Exhibition/Competition featuring Col.
Sam Smith Park..
Presented by Friends
of Sam Smith Park(FOSS) -
A community group
of local residents and park users dedicated to protecting, enhancing and
preserving the naturalized areas of Colonel Samuel Smith Park in South
Etobicoke, Ontario.
Colonel
Samuel Smith Park, affectionately known as Sam Smith Park, is the jewel of the
Lakeshore - a tranquil, waterfront sanctuary of wetlands, woods, shore and
meadow. It supports a magnificent web of life with a diversity of environments
providing food, habitat and protection for the many species of plants and the
birds and animals that pass through or call it home.
The
Photo Exhibition will showcase the diversity of wildlife and the beauty of the
natural landscape in the park. Along
with providing visual images to be displayed at the Assembly Hall gallery, Friends of Sam Smith Park is also
interested in creating public awareness of the role that Sam Smith Park plays
in supporting biodiversity and providing natural spaces for public enjoyment.
FOSS is also partnering with the Assembly Hall to provide educational
opportunities during the exhibit, such as a speaker’s night on the role of Sam
Smith Park in bird migration or a workshop on wildlife photography.
