HUMBER'S INTERPRETIVE CENTRE LAUNCHES NEW EXHIBIT "BIRD'S EYE VIEW"

Last week, Humber College's Interpretive Centre launched its new exhibit "Bird's Eye View".  Fifty-three people attended the opening evening.

Humber's Office of Sustainability ran their booth during the event, offering up tastes of Humber honey and did a raffle for T-shirts and a jar of honey. Adam Solomon shared some of his original music throughout the event (a real treat!).

Remarks were made beginning at 6:30pm - this included a thank you to their partners and contributors, the premiere of the new 6-minute documentary ("The Whimbrel Watchers") that was made in collaboration with Humber Arboretum.

Attendees heard from Nancy Barrett about her entry into birding and why Colonel Samuel Smith Park is such a special place, and the evening closed with comments from Adrian deRooy and the big "reveal" of his new painting of the shoreline of Colonel Samuel Smith Park (it will be installed on the third floor of the Welcome Centre soon).

The exhibit is open during regular hours in the new Welcome Centre until Saturday, November 25, 2017.

During opening hours they have two binocular kits to loan out to those heading into the park (binoculars, map of birding hotspots, visual list of common birds to keep an eye out for, and a notebook to keep track of sightings) - the loan is free to all - they just ask to hang on to a piece of ID while the kit is out.
