There are four conifers that are either dead or dying that obviously receive whatever flows from that pipe. Does anyone know what is causing this? Is it just rainwater runoff that is "drowning" the trees? Who should we contact?

DYING TREES IN THE SWALE
There is a green plastic pipe emerging from the bank on the west side of the swale with rocks and gravel all around it. There are four conifers that are either dead or dying that obviously receive whatever flows from that pipe. Does anyone know what is causing this? Is it just rainwater runoff that is "drowning" the trees? Who should we contact?

How can trees "drown" when they are on a hill?
Is it possible that they have reached the end of their natural life?
Trees die, you know!
This is the only small group of trees around the bowl that appears to be fading much much faster than the others. As they are all about the same age, this would suggest a problem.
Todd, the tour leader from LEAF who led the tree I.D. walk in Sam Smith Park yesterday, looked at the damage reported in this post and concluded that the green pipe probably carried run-off water from parking areas at Humber College and that water would naturally contain de-icing salt in the winter. The damage to the trees is consistent with what he has seen before. The question, what to do?
