FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, RED WINGED BLACKBIRD TURNS UP IN EUROPE

As visitors to the park these days know, the calls of the abundant Red Winged Blackbirds are everywhere as the birds establish and defend breeding territories in the wetland areas where they build their nests

Follow this link to a recent article in the National Post about British birders flocking to a remote northern island to see the first ever, in-Europe, recorded Red Winged Blackbird to turn up on their shores!

Be sure to read the birder's blog post describing the moment he found it.

The story of this little lost "accidental" is both heartwarming and sad and it illustrates just how far excited British "twitchers" will go to add a new bird, no matter what its origin, to their life lists.
