PLEASE KEEP DOGS LEASHED DURING THIS IMPORTANT TIME OF YEAR

As we approach the beginning of the annual Whimbrel Watch (May 20th) and the 8th annual Spring Bird Festival (May 27th), it is important at this time of the year to remember the need to keep dogs leashed in the park, particularly in the southern grasslands.  The low numbers of ground

nesting birds in recent years (Killdeer, Savannah Sparrow etc.) and the rareness now of Whimbrels alighting on the headlands for much needed rest is probably directly related to the increasing number of dogs that run unleashed in those areas.
